The Shure SM7b is an amazing microphone that I have enjoyed using for podcasting and YouTube videos.
But there is a slight design blunder and it has to do with how it connects to studio mic arms. The positioning of the XLR cable with the with the arm is a bit crammed so it bends the XLR cable back. This can cause connectivity issues over time.
A lot of people fix this by using an extender but the ones I see people using don't match the hardware of the mic. Ugh. This means the beautifully designed mic set up is thwarted by a less than optimal look. In other words, the extender looks like an afterthought.
