Many people don't go after their dreams because they're afraid of what people might think.

Or they put pressure on themselves that it has to be "perfect" before they can take action.

I get it. When I look back at some of my previous work, I cringe.

I'm embarrassed by a lot of it.

But you know what? I put it out into the world anyway.

I did a lot of things that weren't "perfect" or "ready" or "excellent." Here's a few examples...

❌ My first 200ish YouTube videos were awful. I recorded them on my phone in my closet. No professional lighting, no professional audio, minimal editing.

❌ I made my first course with a cheap camera, no professional lighting, and not good audio. And I recorded the lessons early in the mornings before work because in those days I still had a job. So in a lot of the lessons, I was sleepy.

❌ I put together a group coaching course before I really knew if anyone would buy it or even what was going to be in it.

❌ I started making reviews and tutorial videos on YouTube about Kajabi, a software I use, when other people were already doing it - and much better than me.

In ANY of these cases I could have not hit publish out of embarrassment.

Someone else could have done it better.

My stuff never looked as professional.

If I cared what people thought I would have never published a video, built a course, coached anyone or reviewed any software.

But you know what? I did it anyway!

Maybe I lack that social cue that makes you afraid of everyone's perceived opinions. Or maybe I just know that they're not thinking about me anyway.

And even if they are, not taking action to avoid embarrassment is not an option for me - never has been, never will be.

But more than anything, I had a vision and went after it.

And you know what...

✅ I've now made about 700 videos on YouTube across four channels, those videos drive leads to my business and create a flywheel of lead-generation for me that happens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the background of my life. Each video is like my little worker bee that I never have to pay, but produces a mountain of value for me.

✅ That first course that wasn't high production value was actually an amazing product. It has a few hundred happy students who have gone through it, and it's made me tens of thousand of dollars. And making that course led me to making several others in two different online business.

✅ My group coaching cohorts are the most fun, and one of the most profitable things I do in my business. The participants love it and get tons of actionable value from it.

✅ My software reviews on YouTube have landed me as the #9 all time affiliate for Kajabi which is, by itself, a six-figure recurring revenue stream that is automatic money coming in every month.

None of that would have happened had I cared about it all being "perfect" or "ready"

It's still not perfect. It's still not ready.

I'm always trying to make all this better.

But "done" is better than "perfect."

And in my case, done means a life of freedom that I otherwise would not have achieved.

Launching this newsletter is my version of modeling this behavior to you.

Is it ready? Is it perfect?

Have I considered all the considerable considerations?

Nope. Not at all.

But, today, The Six-Figure Fastlane: A weekly online business newsletter by Lane Sebring has kicked off!

One day I hope this grows to the point where I look back at this first post and cringe. If that happens, I'll know it was worth starting.

So what's holding you back from taking action?

If it's perfectionism, it's not doing you any favors.

Set perfectionism aside, and hit publish (or post or upload or send). As fast as you can.

Then make it a little better tomorrow. Rinse, repeat.

And after several hundred iterations, you'll realize that your work is not half bad, it's helping a lot of people, and you have the life you used to dream about.
