I'm Lane, the Young Adults & Next Gen Pastor at Centreville Baptist Church in the Northern Virginia / Washington, DC area.  As the Next Gen Pastor I have the privilege of overseeing our church's ministries to kids, students and young adults (basically anyone young enough to be considered part of the "next generation"). I also serve on the preaching team and am involved in overall church communications and service planning.

This is my personal b
log about ministry and leadership and how they intersect with the experiences of life. It includes insights related to overall church-life & spiritual growth. I also post content about marriage, finances and other important life topics. This site also includes my most recent sermons preached at CBC.

My posts are usually about one of three basic categories:

1. Ministry & Leadership Principles that I've learned from reading, observing other leaders and my personal experience of over ten years in ministry.
2. Life experiences & observations that are relevant to the overall theme of life as a pastor-leader.

3. Teachings & Events in the church or next generations ministries.

If you are new to my site, you might want to start with my most popular posts.  Here are my top ones in each category:

I have served in church ministry since college where I did internships at two churches in Oklahoma while studying Communication and Business at University of Central Oklahoma.  After completing my Bachelor of Arts degree I relocated to the Washington, DC area to serve at Centreville Baptist Church in 2007 as the Assistant Director of Student Ministries. I later became the Student Ministry Pastor and am now the Next Generations Pastor.  I studied theology at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and am now completing my Master of Arts in Pastor Ministry at Liberty Theological Seminary

My beautiful wife, Rachel, and I have been married for almost three years. We are expecting our first baby in July 2014.

I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends. Reading anything I can get my hands on, especially books on leadership and ministry.  I am a sermon-junky and love finding new pastors and churches to learn from. I enjoy working out and having an active lifestyle. I'm also just getting into making pizzas which has been a lot of fun.
